Privacy Policy
eSign is a private-by-design iOS app. All document processing, signing, and storage happens entirely on your device. We do not operate servers, we do not have user accounts, and we never upload your documents or signatures anywhere.
1. Introduction
eSign ("the app", "we", "our") is a document signing application designed with privacy as a core principle. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects (almost nothing), how it is used, and your rights.
By downloading and using eSign, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. What eSign does NOT do
- We do not upload your documents to any server
- We do not have user accounts or require sign-up
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or address
- We do not track you across apps or websites
- We do not use advertising networks or display ads
- We do not sell data — there is no data to sell
- We do not use third-party analytics that identify you
3. What data stays on your device
The app stores the following in your device's app sandbox, accessible only to you:
- PDFs you have imported or signed
- Signature images you have created
- Templates you have saved
- App preferences (language, region, calendar choice, etc.)
- A local audit log of app events (for debugging and the signed-PDF audit trail)
Because the app has no backend, there is no server-side log of your activity. If you delete the app, all of your data is deleted with it — we cannot recover it for you. If you have iCloud backup enabled at the iOS system level, your device-local data may be backed up by Apple according to Apple's privacy policy, not ours.
4. Permissions the app requests
eSign requests the following system permissions, only when you use the related feature. Each is optional:
- Camera: to scan paper documents and to photograph your signature
- Photo Library: to import PDFs or images you want to sign
- Face ID / Touch ID: to unlock the app (optional security feature)
- Contacts: only used if you set up in-person signing with a named signer (optional)
All of these permissions can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings. None of the data accessed through these permissions leaves your device.
5. Payments and subscriptions
If you choose to subscribe to eSign Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or process your payment information. We receive only an anonymous confirmation from Apple that your subscription is active. See Apple's privacy policy for how payment data is handled.
6. Third-party services
eSign uses the following Apple-provided services, all of which are standard and expected for iOS apps:
- Apple StoreKit: for in-app purchases and subscriptions
- Apple App Store Connect: for app distribution and crash reports (anonymized by Apple)
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Firebase, or any other third-party analytics or advertising service. We do not integrate any ad network.
7. Children's privacy
eSign is intended for users aged 4 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, because we do not collect personal data from anyone. If a parent or guardian believes their child has somehow provided personal data to the app, please contact us so we can look into it.
8. Your rights
Under GDPR, PDPL (Saudi Arabia), the UAE Data Protection Law, Moroccan Law 09-08, and similar regulations, you have rights including access, correction, and deletion of your personal data. Because eSign does not collect personal data, these rights are satisfied by default:
- Access: all your data is already visible to you in the app
- Deletion: delete the app and all data is permanently gone
- Portability: export any signed PDF via the iOS share sheet
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced inside the app before taking effect.
